"Read the room, guys." Grab Your Wallet founder announces split with Silicon Valley billionaire

Corporate accountability nonprofit Grab Your Wallet Alliance today announced a break with its main funder, prominent Democratic donor and LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman.

Following Vice President Kamala Harris's recent announcement of her presidential run, Hoffman has been publicly pressuring Harris to fire FTC Chair Lina Khan who is known for being tough on concentrations of power in corporate America, including Silicon Valley.

"On the recent Women for Harris National Organizing Call, I heard Black women leaders say loud and clear that we have to have Vice President Kamala Harris’s back unambiguously right now. This is not the time for tech billionaires to be airing their grievances," said Grab Your Wallet President Shannon Coulter.

"I realize that men in Silicon Valley sometimes have a difficult time understanding that their needs don't always come first, but read the room, guys," she added.

Hoffman became a funder of Grab Your Wallet in 2020, after the highly publicized grassroots anti-Trump Grab Your Wallet boycott ended. Grab Your Wallet reached out to Hoffman's organization to request that he end to his calls for Khan to be fired, but received no affirmative indication that Hoffman would be backing down.
